Belarusian-Russian maneuvers to start in our country today
Operative strategic maneuvers of Belarus and Russia “West-2009” will start on the territory of our country on Friday.
They will be organized in two stages and end on September 29. Most attention is going to be paid to the preparation of a security operation of regional troops.
The second stage will be dedicated to the United regional air defense system of Belarus and Russia. About 12.6 thousand people participate in the maneuvers: the number of Belarusian and Russian soldiers is practically equal.
Military equipment will also be involved: 63 planes, 40 helicopters, about 470 fighting machines, 228 tanks, cannons, mortars and other machines.
The main place of the maneuvers will be Abus-Lyasnouski firing ground. Maneuvers will also be organized in Barysau target range.
