Belarusian kills pregnant wife in US
A preliminary autopsy showed a woman killed Sunday was three months pregnant and died of strangulation, the Asheville Police Department said, reports Citizen Times newspaper.
Her husband, Belarus-born Dimitry Simonovich, was charged with first-degree murder following a court appearance Monday.
According to Asheville police, it was about 2 a.m. Sunday when Simonovich, 26, approached an officer standing outside the Police Department on patrol for Bele Chere and said he had killed his wife, Inna Simonovich, 26.
Children were inside the apartment at the time of the incident but were not injured, police said in a release. Investigators believe the children of elementary school age are not the biological children of the couple.
