Belarusian commentator to get European prize in December

Belarusian political analyst Ales Lahvinets has been awarded with the Europe's Prize founded by the Germany-based Heinz-Schwarzkopf Young Europe Foundation. The Belarusian has been picked up for his efforts in building a better understanding between Belarus and the European Union, reports Radio Svaboda. The European Radio for Belarus asked Ales Lahvinets about his views why he was noticed by the foundation:

“I work as a professor, reading lectures about the European integration to the students of the European University and the Belarusian Collegium.

Besides, I write analytical articles about the place of Belarus in Europe and the importance of the European integration for Belarus.

I can also suspect that they noticed my political activities as a parliamentary candidate during the 2004 elections. I also cooperate with the For Freedom movement.

The Europe's Prize has been awarded since 2005. The award ceremony will take place on December 5 in Berlin.
