Belarusian cigarette smugglers die in car crash in Lithuania

Belarusians transporting contraband cigarettes in an Audi have died in Lithuania. The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28. Lithuanian frontier guards noticed an Audi that stopped about 1 km away from them and started going back. They decided that the driver had noticed them and tried stopping the suspicious car. However, they did not manage to do it – the car drove into a ditch and turned over. Smoke started coming out of the car.

One of the men died instantly and the other one died after the ambulance had arrived. The car had a Lithuanian registration plate. A few boxes of contraband cigarettes were found in the car. The dead persons were Belarusians, unofficial sources report.
