Belarus yet to decide on car import duties

Belarus is yet to take a decision on the import duties for the foreign-made cars. Some other positions in the customs union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan remain under questions, Alexander Lukashenka said Tuesday when asked by lawmakers. He noted that Russia was excluding some of the Belarusian goods. "Perhaps, we whould think of something ofthe kind", the official news agency Belta quoted the president as saying.

Lukashenka noted that Russia supplies 7 to 9 million of crude oil to Kazakhstan duty-free. He also mentioned that there is a zero import duty for China. Russia has diffrent relations with Belarus, Lukashenka lamented.

But he also stressed that the customs union with Kazakhstan and Russia was in general advantageous to Belarus. It provides access to the 200-million market and attracts foreign investors in Belarus.
