Belarus men handball team qualifies for European Championship finals

The Belarus men handball team has made it to the final stage of the 2008 European Championship.
In a play-off qualifier, our compatriots beat Switzerland on the aggregate.

On June 9 in Brest, the Belarusian players won 33:24, but lost today in an away match 28:30.

Switzerland had to win Belarus with the difference of 9 goals in order to qualify for the finals.

A total of 16 teams will take part in the final stage of the championship, including Framce, Croatia, Norway, Denmark, Russia, Germany, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Belarus.

Two more teams will be identified in the matches Montenegro vs Portugal and Iceland vs Serbia.

The 2008 European Championship will take place in Norway on January 17-28. Belarus has not played in the final stages of the handball championship since 1994 when it took the 8th position, reports Bepanan.
