Belarus marks 200th anniversary of Dunin-Martsinkevich

Celebrations to mark the 200th birthday anniversary of Vincent Dunin-Martsinkevich, a classic of the Belarusian literature, today began in the city of Babruysk.

The writer and the actor was born near this city on February 4, 1808. The Yanka Kupala National Drama Theater tomorrow will stage his Idylia as part of the function to commemorate the great Belarusian. On February 6, festivities will take place in the Valozhyn district where the writer used to live and was burried.

The celebrations are sponsored by the government of Belarus. This date is recognized by UNESCO as the world's heritage.

Libraries and museums across Belarus will organize exhibitions on Dunin-Marstinkevich's works and the translation of his famous "Pinskaya Shlyakhta" drama into several European languages, reports Belta.
