Belarus information ministry says no warning for websites

In mid-May, several popular Internet sites received letters from the Ministry of Information - the radio station Radio Racyja, music portal Tuzin.fm, the site of the United Civil Party among them. There was a rumor on the Internet about websites allegedly receiving warnings. As the Euroradio learned from the legal department of the Information Ministry, it is not so:

"Documents obtained by the sites are not warnings. They are notifications about the inadmissibility of violations of the law. We cannot yet tell you the reasons why they were sent to these media outlets. The Information Ministry is now engaged in drawing up the data base of site owners," the Ministry of Information told Euroradio.

After the introduction of amendments to the law "On mass media" in Belarus, access to any information website restricted after two or more warnings received during the year.
