Belarus to get $500mn loan from Russia soon

Russia looks set to give a $500mn loan to Minsk, Russia's Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin said in a statement.
The first installment of the Russian loan -- $1 billion -- was wired to the finance ministry accounts on November 18, 2008. It had been planned that the second installment of $1 billion would be wired to Belarus by late February 2009, but it never happened.

Last weekend, Belarus PM Siarhei Sidorski said that Russia's finance ministry requested the Belarusian partners to divide the second installment into two parts -- $500 million in February and March each, reports the Belapan news agency.
