Belarus, Gazprom sign deal on gas price in 2009

Beltransgaz has signed an additional agreement to the current contract with Gazprom on the supplies of the natural gas to Belarus in 2009. A source in Beltransgaz told the Interfax news agency that the appendix to the effective four-year-contract was signed last week. However, he did not reveal the gas costs for Belarus in the first quarter, saying that the costs of the January supplies would be seen after the signing of the deliveries act in February.

The formula to calculate the cost has not changed.

The Belarusian leadership expects that an average cost of gas supplies in 2009 will amount to around $148 per 1000 cubic meters. Beginning from April 1, 2008, Belarus was charged $127.9 per 1000 cubic meters.
