Belarus' foreign exchange reserves reach record high

Belarus' foreign exchange reserves have reached a record high. According to the press service of the National Bank, they amounted to $8.6 billion (in equivalent) on August 1. According to TUT.by, this is a new historical maximum. The previous one was registered on July 1, 2012, but then it was almost $300 million less.

It is noted that in July 2019, the reserves increased by $337.1 million or 4.1% (in June - $200.8 million or 2.5%). Last month, the government and the National Bank fulfilled their external and internal obligations to the amount of about $500 million.
