Belarus football fans denied British visas due to low wages

The British Consulate in Minsk rouinely rejects visa applications from Belarusian football fans who wish to attend a World Cup qualifier between England and Belarus on October 14 in London.
Visas are formally denied due to low wages and the young age of applicants. In the visa of consular workers, these people would simply not return home.

One of the fans that out of a group of 12 people, six were denied visas. At the same time, people have suffered serious material losses as the pre-paid tickets ($300) are not refunded, reports Radio Svaboda.

It is worth noting that in October Belarus was visited by over 3000 British fans. Back the, the Belarusian consulate in London was issuing visas free of charge, an unprecedented move.
