Belarus confirms 7th death-row inmate

Bealrus has a seventh person sentenced to capital punishment indeed. His name is Yahor Liotau and he is 30 years old, Supreme Court first deputy chairman Valry Kalinkovich told reporters on 31 January. 

Reports about the seventh death-row inmate appeared in media on 26 January but no official confirmation followed on that day. 

According to Kalinkovich, Liotau was sentenced to death for killing a cell mate in the Hlybokaje prison. The man decided not appeal the death sentence ruling.

Belarusian human rights defenders earlier reported about six perosns sentenced to capital punishment: р Kiryl Kazachok from Mazyr (he killed his two children), Aliaksandr Mikhalenya from Naroula (killed his neighbors pernsioners), Ihar Hershankou and Siamoin Berazhny, Minskers Aliaksandr Zhylnikau and Viachaslau Sukharka (killed a young couple in Minsk and a man in Kalodzishchy).
