The soldier went missing from 2 a.m. on January 3 at a special operations army brigade in Maryina Horka. Mazyr-born Aliaksandr Sushchyk, 21 disappeared with a knife-bayonet and a radio.

Some media outlets reported earlier that the man had allegedly been spotted in a nearby village. The reports suggested that he might have got drunk and left his military unity in order to have fun at a village disco. It is not clear though what was the source of misinformation. The parents and volunteers claim they have not found  any leads to his possible whereabouts, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda.

The Ministry of Defense has made no official statement about the disappearance or as search operation. Unofficial reports suggest that the missing knife-bayonet and the radio were eventually located within the unit.
