Be Free festival shifts to Rovno next year

The organizers have decided to cancel Be Free music festival in Chernigov. Next year, it will be held in Rovno, western Ukraine. This fall, Be Free will make a tour across Belarus. Be Free festival will not be organized this year. Vital Supranovich, one of organizers told Euroradio, that the administration of the Ukrainian city of Chernigov, where the festival was to take place, did not issue a permit to hold the musical festival at the request of culture officials at Homel City Hall.

Vital Supranovich “The festival will not take place this year. It has been postponed for the next year. We have learned a decision to ban the event was taken at a very high level. We were made to understand it was no sense to try to organize the festival in Chernigov, because the local authorities would not cooperate”.

That's why the organizers are in talks with another city in Ukraine to hold Be Free festival.
"Most likely, it will take place in Rovno or near Rovno. We have been in talks with the local authorities. I think everything should be okay there", Supranovich said.

But, to be on the safe side, the organizers decided to obtain confirmation from the authorities in Rovno about the festival now.

Yet, Supranovich does not rule out that after the local elections in Chernigov in autumn, new authorities will want the festival to return to their city. Vital doubts that our people will want to return.

This year, Be Free organizers plan to make a Be Free tour across Belarusian cities, beginning from mid or late autumn. The format of the tour is yet to be known.
