BBC: Sanctions to cover 160 Belarusian officials

The EU's sanctions, which will be considered by the EU countries' foreign ministers on January 31, will concern "officials who are connected with reptressions".  BBC has informed with a reference to the Europen diplomats that this concerns the list of 160 Belarusian officials, including Aliaksandr Lukashenka.

According to the diplomats, the number of names in the "EU black list" will increase for the cost of those people who are "guilty in election fabtrication" and also "guilty in suppressing the civil society and independent media".

The European Parliament adopted a resolution last week, which demands to prohibit the Belarusian officials, judges and heads of the force structures, who are in any way connected with the dispersal of the demonstration after the presidential election on December 19, to enter Europe.
