Battles in Donetsk streets
An antiterrorist operation started in the city on May 26.
The battles started near the airport, a militants’ stronghold. The Ukrainian troops used paratroopers and aviation. Shooting can still be heard – the Ukrainian troops are controlling the airport now. Chechens are said to be fighting on the militants’ side.
Fights started in Kiev Avenue, Buslayev Street and Donetsk Province military registration and enlistment office in the evening, Ukrainian mass media report. The city authorities urged people to stay indoors. There are victims among civilians, near the airport and in other Donetsk districts.
