BATE defeated by Shahtsyor (Karaganda) – 0:1 (video)

The first match of the second qualification round of the Champions League has ended in Barysau. Barysau BATE lost to Karaganda Shahstsyor – 0:1. Hizhnichenko scored a gold passed by Shimavich during the 48th minute.

BATE seized the initiative and attacked a lot. Belarusians were leading in the number of hits (12:6) and striking the post (6:3). However, the Barysau team did not manage to score a goal. Furthermore, Vital Radzivonou was shown a yellow card for simulation 2 minutes before the end of the game.

"We did not do anything to embarrass the opponents. We played very simply,” BATE chief manager Victar Hancharenka commented on the results of the match. “We will still play a return match although Shahtsyor is strategically ahead of us now.”

BATE leader Alyaksandr Hleb was injured during the match. Victar Hancharenka doubts whether the player will be able to take part in the return match in Karaganda on July 23.

A fan ran into the pitch during the last minute of the match. He managed to tell something to Vital Radzinvonou before he was led out by stewards.

The team that will score more points in these two matches will make it to the next qualification round of the Champions League.
