Authorities permit opposition to stage Dzyady march

Minsk authorities have allowed the opposition Belarusian Popular Front (BPF) and Conservative Christian Party (CCP) to stage marches on November 2 to mark Dzyady, ancestors’ remembrance day.

BPF supporters are expected to gather at the Uskhodniya cemetery on the eastern edge of Minsk and march via Kalinouski, Lahoyski Trakt and Mirashnichenka Streets to Kurapaty, a Stalin-era massacre site to stage a rally there.

The BPF and CCP need a separate permission from the regional authorities to hold the rally.

Nasha Niva says the two processions may merge at Kalinouski Street and march together to Kurapaty.
