Artist made to buy ticket to donate his works to museum in Orsha

The Orsha Museum of Uladzimir Karatkevich had a scandalous incident on 13 December.  The artist Mikola Kupava, born in Orsha, decided to make a gift to the museum, but he was stopped at the entrance.

Together with the artist, the cultural institution was visited by a few more people - journalists and participants of the conference held in Orsha. The museum staff said that the ceremony of donation can only be attended after buying tickets for 20 thousand rubles. Kupava who brought a gift of two of his works - "Vyazynka" and "Vostraya Brama" also had to buy a ticket.

Incidentally, the museum director Lina Hatouskaya knew about the visit of the artist in advance. Besides, now the museum is holding an exhibition of the works by Kupava. However, the behavior this fact id not affect the director of the museum, Radio Liberty reported.

The handing of the paintings took about 10 minutes. The museum received two pictures as a gift and an income of 300 thousand rubles for the sold tickets.
