Alyaksandr Mіlіnkevіch trying to register “Movement “For Freedom” for the second time

A former presidential candidate Alyaksandr Mіlіnkevіch and his adherents have sent an appeal for registration of a human rights defending civil association “Movement “For Freedom” to the Belarusian Ministry of Justice yesterday. It was the second time he had tried to register the association. Alyaksandr Mіlіnkevіch informed ERB about it.

“We will continue trying to register although we do understand that the authorities’ policy is directed against the development of the democratic community in Belarus and is even meant to eliminate it”.

The decision to create the association was taken at a conference in Zaslauye on August 11. 74 people were present there.

The statute was adopted, the administration and the inspection commission were elected there. Milinkevich was elected head of the “Movement “For Freedom”. His deputies are Victar Karnyaenka and Yuras Hubarevich.

The main purposes of the organization are protection of human rights and liberties, participation in the creation of a civil community, protection of the state’s sovereignty and independence and creation of conditions that would allow organization of free and democratic elections. Let us remind you that the Ministry of Justice has already refused to register the movement once.

According to Milinkevich, the letter they received from the Ministry did not contain any serious reason for the refusal.
