All state-owned papers begin using Belarus-made newsprint

All national state-owned newspapers in Belarus has begun thi week using the newsprint produced in Shklou, Mahilyou region, Stanislau Kazak, an official from the Belarusian Press House (a printing monopoly) told Belarusian Association of Journalists. The plant in Shklou is the sole newsprint producer in Belarus.

Previously, most of newspapers used Russian newsprint, but from now on state-owned newspapers will have to use the newsprint from Shklou. According to Kazak, the measure is mandatory only for the state-owned newspapers. Independent papers will continue buying their newsprint on their own. Many publishers have numerously complained about the quality of the newsprint paper from Shklou.
