Albania applies for EU membership

Albania applied for European Union membership on April 28. BelaPAN informs about it referring to France Press.
The Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha told journalists in Prague that the application was of historical importance for the people of the country because it could testify to the return of the nation in the European family. Membership in the EU is one of the main goals announced by the Prime Minister before the parliamentary elections that will take place on June 28.

His Czech colleague Mirek Topolánek representing the country presiding in the EU now recalled the serious additional changes that had taken place in Albania. He noted that the Albanian authorities still had a lot of work to do.

Let us remind you that Albania joined NATO on April 1 and may become the 28th member of the EU.
