African swine fever arrives in EU from Belarus

This is the first time the virus has been found in Lithuania. The country’s authorities did a lot to prevent the spreading of the African swine fever from Belarus last year.

Russia may limit pork supplies from the European Union in connection with it. The population of wild boar is fairly large in the Baltic countries, Poland, France and other states which will help the virus spread fast.

Russian and EU specialists may organize a consultation on Monday, January 27, Interfax-West reports.
