Opposition activist Volha Mikalaichyk was detained in Minsk on September 4, her associate Leanid Kulakou reported on Facebook.

A man in plain clothes approached Mikalaichyk near the post office in Valhahradskya Street, showed her his ID and asked her to get in a police van, Kulakou reported.

Volha managed to phone her friend Natallya Mitskevich and tell her about the detention, Radio Liberty reports. Mikalaichyk was sentenced to a 10-day arrest for an unauthorized action of solidarity with political prisoners and against Russian military bases organized in Minsk at the end of June.

A number of delayed sentences have been fulfilled recently in Minsk. Maksim Vinyarski was jailed on August 26 and Mikalai Statkevich – on August 28. Statkevich has already served his 5-day sentence and is free now.
