The preliminary budget for the 2008 parliamentary elections scheduled for the next fall will amount to Br24.6 billion, Mikalaj Lazavik, the secretary of the Belarus's Central Elections Commission told the Belapan news agency. He said that the break down of the costs associated with the elections is drawn up early in order to include it into the 2008 national budget. The figure is not final yet. It has to be approved by the Ministry of Finances and then by the Council of Ministers, Lazavik stressed.

The Central Elections Commission officials said earlier that the best date for the 2008 vote would be October 12, 2008, reports Belapan.
