17:42 Belarus woman returns home after 24 years in slavery

Valiancina Vaznik, a citizen of Belarus, has returned home after having spent 24 years in slavery in Turkmenistan, said the Belarus office of the International Migration Organization.
This is the first case when a Belarus citizen ends up in in the home land after such a lengthy period of time.

It was her relatives who reported that the woman went missing. The checks confirmed that she had indeed been a victim and was provided with assistance to come back home.

The International Migration Organization's office refused to elaborate on the details of the circumstances, citing the restricted character of the information.

Valiancina is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program at the Minsk-based House of Mercy. The woman was given a Belarus passport with a permanent residence address, according to BELTA.
