14:06 Quarantine in Moscow region due to bird flu

The areas in the Moscow region of Russia, where bird flu has been detected, will remain under quarantine for at least two weeks, said the press office of the Russian Agricultural Monitoring Authority.

The virus has been confirmed in four districts of the region.

The veteranary services of the Moscow region today morning witnessed chicken loss in the Taldomsk district. Earlier, bird flu had been detected in Odintsovo, Domodedovo and Podolsk districts.

The Moscow region of Russia is the biggest poultry supplier in Russia. Poultry farm managers ruled out the possibility of the virus getting into their farms.

Experts are still probing if this type of virus is dangerous for humans. The final results of the tests will be revealed on Monday, according to Interfax.
