12:36 Belarusians hand over unregistered weapons
More than 22 thousand unregistered weapons were handed over by Belarusians last year and during the first three months of 2007. The head of the department on weapon and criminalistic equipment of the Ministry of Internal Affaires of Belarus Syarhey Kastrama informed about it.
According to him, people started handing over unregistered weapons more often because the punishment for keeping them became more severe.
More than 16 thousand weapons were handed over last year and 6 thousands – during the first three months of this year.
These numbers are several times bigger than the numbers we got in 2005. The majority of those weapons date back to World War II.
