12:22 “Black diggers” detained in Polatsk

Two so-called “black diggers” were detained in Polatsk on February 21. The young men were trying to sell a ring, beads and other kinds of ancient adornment for 3000 USD. Experts concluded that the things dated back to XII-ХIIIth centuries. When the “black diggers” were detained about 15 ancient things were found on them. There was also an exposition of 70 artifacts in their house, including a spearhead and ceramic crockery.

Polatsk City department of the Interior informed that the two unemployed had been illegally excavating ancient burial mounds in Polatsk and Verhnyadzvink Districts. They used a radio-metal locator to find artifacts.

The “black diggers” made a catalogue of their goods and tried to sell them to local collectors. But they did not manage to sell anything. The police found them earlier then buyers.
