Nearly1150 workers of Belarusian Railways have signed under a collective letter describing the Aug. 9 presidential elections as falsified and calling for Lukashenka to step down. They have also demanded the resignation of all Central Election Commission staff members, holding a new election and condemned police violence against protesters, and demanded punishment for all people involved in the election falsifications. The letter was sent to the Council of Ministers, Supreme Court, Minsk Region Executive Committee, Minsk City Executive Committee.

Activists collected signatures at Belarus Railways units across the country, reports TUT.by. Some of the workers collecting signatures felt pressure from their bosses. One of the workers said: "Without pressure from the management, there would have been notably more signatures judging by the mood of fellow workers about the situation after August 9."

The undersigned workers noted that many of them are unable to join the national strike because their work is associated with railway safety. But they stressed that the Constitution guarantees the right of citizens to freedom of expression.

Belarus Railway workers have joined solidarity actions on numerous occasions in Minsk and other Belarusian cities.
