1000 take part in March of Dissents in St. Petersburg

Up to 1000 people took part in the March of Dissents in the Russian city of St Petersburg, reports the Moscow-based Ekho Moskvy radio station.  The participants of the action marched from the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall to Pioneers' Square where a music show was staged after the speeches. Demonstrators demanded to return the democratic rights and freedoms and to free political prisoners.

Russia's opposition leaders Eduard Limonov, Garry Kasparov and Andrei Ilarionov took part in the rally. Unidentified provocators threw excrements at Limonov.

The police did not detain the provocators. Two of them were captured by action's organizers and handed over to the police.
