A UCP activist was one of the candidates. The UCP leader was distributing information leaflets nearby.

Anatol Lyabedzka reported:

"The campaign For Fair Elections is starting. We say that we will not take part in the election and conduct our own campaign. The goal of the campaign is to show that all our problems – both social and economic – are connected with the absence of free and fair elections in Belarus. We have come and started distributing information leaflets describing the authorities’ corruption and privileges. We are also collecting signatures for the government’s resignation and abolition of the car tax.”

The picket was conducted near the Central Department Store. About a dozen policemen appeared 15 minutes later. They asked the picket participants to leave and wrote down their names.
