Yermoshina: Parliamentary elections likely scheduled for October 12, 2007
The term of powers of the House of Representatives of the 3d National Assembly will expire in 2008. According to Lidzia Yermoshyna, the chairwoman of the Central Elections Commission of Belarus, October 15, 2008 is the last possible date for the poll. “Since this is a working day, the last Sunday when elections could be held is October 12. We will propose this date to the president,” Yermoshyna told the Interfax news agency.
Yermoshyna also said that it was very likely that the president would approve the proposed date. If this is going to happen, the election race should start not later than July 12, 2008.
