Yarmoshyna: No reason to hold pre-term presidential election

The upcoming presidential election will not disturb the agricultural plans of the Belarusians in any way, so there's no reason to hold it earlier. This is how the CEC Chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna commented the statements about possible transfer of the presidential election date to 2014.

Mrs. Yarmoshyna has told Euroradio the following:

"First, there's absolutely no need for that. Secondly, what is the point of holding pre-term presidential elections? We had pre-term elections only once - in 2006, the date was re-scheduled by three months, from summer to spring. This was explained by a holiday season. so, there are no grounds to re-schedule the electoral campaign for an earlier term, either legal or factual".

The other day, leader of the Tell the Truth campaign Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu said it was not excluded that the election would be moved to 2014 instead of 2015. Nyaklyaeu thinks this would play for Lukashenka.

Lidziya Yarmoshyna sees no benefits for the state leader in early election. She confirms - the presidential campaign starts in August 2015, while the election itself will be held no later than November 20, 2015.
