Yanukovich asks Russia to guarantee his safety, Russia agrees

"My companions and I are being threatened with murder. I have to ask the Russian authorities to guarantee my personal safety and protect me from extremists,” interfax.by quotes the overthrown President.

The Russian authorities have agreed to fulfill Yanukovcih’s request, an anonymous structure in the Russian government told Interfax.

The Verkhovna Rada announced Yanukovich’s resignation because he “evaded his responsibilities” after the events that had taken place in the country.

Yanukovich and his companions’ whereabouts are unknown now. He may be in the sanatorium Barviha in Moscow Oblast, some sources report.
