Writer Arlou recovering after heart surgery

Prominent writer Uladzimir Arlou is recovering after heart surgery that followed a minor heart attack in early November. Doctors said the operation was a success.

Arlou told ERB that he feels good, follows doctors' advice, writes a new book and poems.

"Now that I have been discharged I'm trying to be active. After a month-long break, I have to do a lot of things apart from taking care of my health. As for health, I walk five to six kilometers a day as doctors prescribed, pedal the exercise bike that I have bought and work on an illustrated history of Belarus," he said.

The book focuses on history of the Grand Duchy of Litva (Lithuania) and includes chapters on Vilnius in the 20th century and the Belarusian community in Lithuania and Vilnius, Arlou said.
