"Wood brothers" meet in Latvia
Riga is hosting a reunion meeting of former rebels that fought for the Latvian independence from the Soviet rule in 1944-1954.
The former rebels gathered outside the Ethnographic Museum to commemorate their falled fellows. The rebelion veterans also laid flowers to the Freedom Monument. This is the 17th meeting of the "wood brothers".
The meeting is regularly organized by the Latvian Association of National Partisans which unites 180 members. The Latvian president congratulated the veterans with a special telegram, expressing respect to their courage and love for the Motherland, reports Interfax.
