Will Belarusian soldiers go to hot spots?

The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolai Bordyuzha thinks that the decision to create peacemaking forces will be taken this autumn. According to him, forces that will be acting on behalf of the organization and under the aegis of the UN will be created.

Bordyuzha reminded that a meeting of the Council of Collective Security will take place in Dushanbe on October 6. Representatives of the CSTO member states will consider the document on creation of peacemaking forces, reports “Interfax”.

Let us remind you that Belarus is also a member state of this organization.

“It is a kind of risk area but if the UN takes this decision Belarus will be ready to participate in it”, - informed the head of the commission on international affaires and national security of the Council of the Republic Mikalai Charhinets in his interview given to ERB.

Charhinets: “I am not against the creation of forces that could carry out peacemaking activities under the aegis of the UN”.

Charhinets noted that the Belarusian legislation did not forbid participation in peacemaking activities. It turns out that Belarusian soldiers may get to hot spots to carry out peacemaking activities.

Charhinets: “These are not hot spots but spots of instability where peacemakers are needed”.
