What do stars and politicians predict for Lukashenka?

March 19 is the anniversary of the presidential election in Belarus. What was this year for Belarusians and for the President Aliaksandr Lukashenka? We recalled some events like camping at Kastrychnistkaya Square, collapse of the BelTA satellite and gas conflict with Russia…
“The European Radio for Belarus decided to summarize the period because the reason for it is also unusual – it is the13th year of presidency for Lukashenka. An economic expert Leanid Zaika helped us understand the economic issue of this question:

“This year is really symbolic for Lukashenka because the 12-year cycle of his presidency ended in June. Of course, 12 years is a real cycle of political life. Now it’s the 13th year. Problems have started. Putin has limited Lukashenka’s opportunity to become the author of “an economic miracle”.

The economic miracle has disappeared together with 2 billions of economic aid allocated by Russia when it raised prices for gas and petrol. The authorities turned out to be practically helpless in spite of the fact they seemed to have sold “Beltransgaz” for a good price. Those two billions did not go anywhere but a nuclear power plant could have been built with this money. The government is not able to establish a normal economic regime and is looking for money abroad”.

Can this year’s problems be connected with Lukashenka’s political mistakes made at the beginning of his career? A political scientist Uladzіmіr Matskevіch says:

“In my opinion, this year was used for correction of misunderstanding and inaccuracy of Lukashenka’s approach to presidency. If he had understood that it was necessary to be careful about Russia and treat it as a foreign trade partner rather than creating that stupid idea about fraternity and an elder brother, etc., if he had understood it in 1994 the way he understands it now it would have been very good for Belarus”.

Maybe we should not throw a book at Lukashenka? Maybe he simply had no luck or the stars were bad for him? Astrologers say there are pairs of planets - like Yin and Yang. For example, Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter’s cycle is 12 years while Saturn’s is 29.5. People who have more Jupiter characteristics are sociable; they can be good politicians or teachers. Those resembling Saturn are vice versa, more individualistic. An astrologer Marat Ruban continues:

“What about the President? When last year’s presidential election took place Jupiter has reached the end of its 12-year cycle and a new cycle started. Everyone defines the character of the coming cycle by his or her actions. For example we have birthdays every year.  The way we spend the coming year is defined by the way we celebrate our birthdays.

So a negative Jupiter cycle was defined. It means that there will be problems with the social function and with prestige for the next 12 years.

Of course we have to pay attention to Saturn too. The president had a great problem with Saturn while breaking up demonstrations last year. You need a lot of inner power to survive through difficulties created by Saturn. Thus, this man’s pressure and severity will become stronger”.

On the eve of 2007 Lukashenka claimed the year would be very hard for Belarusians. Looking back at the past year we can understand what is going to happen this year. The editor of the Supreme League of the Comedy Club KVN Alyaksey Akimau understood it in his own way:

“I think this year will present no difference. Nothing funny comes into my mind in connection with it”.

So, the issue seems grave if even if comedians do not want to joke about it.
