Victims of political repressions have been commemorated in Brest. Representatives of the Association of Victims of Political Repressions, as well as the journalists, gathered together at Tryshynskaye cemetery in Brest at midday. The people lighted candles and put flowers to the graves.

Let us remind you, the Day of Memory of Victims of Political Repressions is non-officially marked on October 30 in Belarus and some CIS countires. It comes from the struggle of political prisoners in Soviet camps, who first celebrated the "Political Prisoner Day" on October 30, 1974 behind the grating and the barbed wire. Belarus joined marking of this day several years ago.

Yesterday a "Memory Picket" took place in the Belarusian capital, in front of the KGB building. It was dedicated to the tragic anniversary of mass execution of 100 representatives of the Belarusian national elite in the NKVD prison on the night of October 29-30, 1937.
