velcom in court battle with customer for Br40mn

Minsk's Kastrychnitski District Court on November 9 sat for the final hearing of the Velcom vs Baranov S.V. case. The judge ruled that the defendant refund nearly Br40 million to Velcom, a mobile communication service operator. Sergei Baranov, a customer of the operator, disclaims such huge expenditures.  According to Velcom, a huge number of calls was made from Baranov's SIM-card from many countries in late January 2008. Baranov was physically unable to be present in several countries at the same time. However, the operator refers to a provision in the contract that a SIM-card owner bears responsibility for keeping the card. The owner is not allowed to pass it to the third parties and muct pay for the delivered services.

Most probably, the card was cloned and its data were distributed through the internet.

The subscriber is set to appeal the ruling in a higher court, reports Onliner.
