Vaukavysk authorities ban opposition rally

The district government in Vaukavysk has denied permission for an opposition rally scheduled for October 3. The rally participants are expected to select delegates to the Belarusian European Forum due to be held in Minsk on November 14.
The application was submitted by Ales Zarembyuk, a local member of the Movement for Freedom, but Ihar Kashkevich, deputy head of the Vaukavysk District Executive Committee, said that the movement has no registered chapter in the district.

Zarembyuk asked for permission to hold the rally at the local library or the Palace of Culture.
