USA to check ifBelaruskali is affected by sanctions

Two senators have asked the U.S. authorities to check whether Belaruskali is affected by the trade sanctions imposed on a number of Belarusian companies in 2007, interfax.by refers to The Wall Street Journal.

Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich are senators for New Mexico, the state that produces 75% of American potash fertilizers. They suspect Belaruskali of evading the trade restrictions by leaving the concern Belneftekhim.

The representative of the Belarusian Potash Company supplying Belaruskali products to the American market believes that the senators’ letter is the result of American producers’ lobbyist efforts.

Belaruskali is the world’s biggest producer of potash fertilizers at the moment. It can produce 12.6 million tons a year.
