UN head: Belarus is not exempt from responsibilities concerning human rights

The fact that warrants of special reporters of Belarus and Cuba have been cancelled does not make the countries exempt from responsibilities according to the General Declaration of Human Rights and international treaties in the field.
It is said in the appeal of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon posted in the official web site of the organization. Let us remind you that the UN Council cancelled the warrants of special reporters of Belarus and Cuba in Geneva on June 18.

In this appeal Ban Ki-moon supports the working out of rules of the universal periodic survey of the situation with human rights in all countries.  The Secretary-General stressed that all countries will be checked without any exception. The survey will start from the members of the Council itself.
