Famous writer Uladzimir Karatkevich was born on November 26. A number of events dedicated to the writer’s 85th birthday will be organized in different Belarusian cities.
A party dedicated to Karatkevich’s birthday will be held at the Modern Art Gallery in Minsk (Nezalezhnasti Avenue, 37a). The magazine Dzeyaslou (#78) containing the writer’s diaries that have never been published before will be presented there. The event will start at 6.30 p.m., admission free.
The Belarusian Union of Painters has prepared the exhibition “Land Under White Wings-2015” in Orsha, the writer’s home town, Radio Liberty reports. A festive concert dated for the writer’s jubilee will begin at the city cultural centre at 4 p.m.
The educational and cultural party ‘Uladzimir Karatkevich and Christianity’ will be organized in St. Basil's Cathedral in Hrodna (Akademichnaya Street, 2) on November 29.
The writer’s jubilee will also be marked on TV. STV has launched a memory action - actors are reading extracts from Karatkevich’s books aloud. Belarus-3 has been broadcasting films and performances based on the writer’s works since November 23.
