Ukrainian PM: Coup d’etat attempt in Kiev

"Militants are fighting us, not the opposition,” RIA Novosti quotes the Ukrainian PM. “It is a real coup d’etat attempt. Everyone who supports this coup d’etat should say ‘we want to overthrow the legal Ukrainian government’ instead of hiding behind peaceful protesters.”

An early presidential election is absolutely unreal in Ukraine, Nikolai Azarov said. The next presidential election will take place in a year, he noted.

"How can elections be conducted when the centre of Kiev is occupied by militants? The situation in the country should be returned to normal,” the PM said.

President Victor Yanukovich and Maidan leaders are negotiating in Kiev now. The results of the negotiations will be known within the next few hours.
