Ukraine to refuse from Belarusian sugar import

The Ukrainian government is considering the issue of introduction of quotas for the import of Belarusian sugar.
According to “Kommersant-Ukraine”, the decision prepared by the Ministry of Economy may be taken by the end of the year.

Market dealers welcome the measures accusing Belarus of supplying cane-sugar instead of beet sugar.

According to Ukrainian sources, 30 million 177 thousand tons of sugar costing 14.1 million dollars (95% of the whole sugar import in Ukraine) was imported in Ukraine in January-July 2008. It is ten times more than last year.
