Ukraine boosts security at border with Belarus

It has been done to prevent people "that may be intending to take part in extremist provocations" from entering Ukraine, the Ukrainian State Border Service reports.

The same measures were taken at the Ukraine-Russia border earlier. Frontier guards did not let 577 Russian citizens enter the country on March 9 and 10. They could not explain the aim of their visit and had provocative symbols and objects that could be used for fighting.

People suspected of extremism were detained at the Belarus-Ukraine border yesterday. Ukrainian frontier guards suspected a group of people of intending to perform provocative and extremist actions on the Ukrainian territory. The citizenship of the detained was not reported.
