Ukraine arrests Belarus woman wanted by Interpol

A Belarusian woman wanted by Interpol for trafficking in people was arrested in Kiev by the Ukrainian law-enforcement agencies. The 29-year-old woman was part of a criminal grouping led by her mother. In 2000-2004 the gang recruited over 430 girls and women, including 131 teen-age girls, and sold them into sexual slavery in the United Arab Emirates.

The leader of the group is serving a prison term in the Belarusian jail. The daughter managed to escape prosecution by fleeing the country. She came to Ukraine together with her husband in April and was living with relatives in Kiev. Belarus and Ukraine are now in extradiction talks over the matter, reports RBK Ukraine.
